While they still need their yearly vaccinations, we recommend senior pets have 6 monthly check ups with the vet to keep them in good health in their golden years.

A senior pet check may include:

  • Body condition scoring and weight check
  • General cardiovascular (Heart) check up
  • Musculoskeletal/arthritis (e.g. Joints) check
  • Dental health check
  • Ophthalmology (Eye) examination
  • Skin and ear examination
  • Lumps and bumps assessed
  • Assessment of lymph-nodes
  • Core body temperature check
  • Blood and urine screens

With this examination we can detect early changes in your pets body and create a tailored treatment plan, including lifestyle modifications to keep your pet as healthy and as active as possible. Early detection of disease and other conditions can mean treatment is less costly and more effective. As your pet gets older it is much easier to keep them in good health, rather than try to return them to health if illness does occur.
