Digital Radiology
Radiography is essential for the assessment of body abnormalities, breeding assessment of animals and the examination of the internal organs of the chest and thorax.
High quality digital images and correct positioning is essential for this technology.
Here at MFVH our skilled team takes world class images of your pet. We can then study those images and determine the next best course of action.
We are also certified and regularly take x-rays for breeding assessment which are sent to the USA for reading as part of the “Penn hip”scheme.
X-rays are regularly used as part of our pre-surgical and post- surgical assessment of cases, particularly orthopaedic surgical cases.
Ultrasonography
At Motto Farm Veterinary Hospital we are fortunate enough to be able to offer Ultrasonography in our clinic. Ultrasound can be a vital tool when confirming a diagnosis of diseases or abnormalities within the abdomen, chest and soft tissue such as tendons.
We are also able to use Ultrasound for Cystocentisis (Sterile collection of urine with a needle through the abdominal wall) and to perform a Biopsy or Fine needle Aspirates without having to go into surgery. It is also used for cardiology purposes, diagnosis of heart conditions and treatments such as ultrasound guided pericardial drainage.
These are procedures that are performed by all of our vets. We are lucky enough to have Dr Ross Barter, who has a particular interest in Veterinary ultrasonography and cardiology, as a permanent part of our veterinary team. Ross has completed many postgraduate courses in these fields and when not working at Motto Farm Vet Hospital he operates Newcastle Veterinary Ultrasound, performing ultrasound examinations for referring veterinarians.
Endoscopy
At Motto Farm we are very proud of our new, state of the art, endoscope. We use an endoscope piece that is either a rigid or flexible tube with an attached video camera which allows live footage to be viewed on a connected screen. The endoscope can be inserted via the mouth, nostril, colon, or vagina depending on which organs need to be examined. Our vets are able to perform a thorough investigative examination of the chosen organ without having to perform invasive surgery purely for diagnostic purposes. We routinely perform Gastroscopy, Rhinoscopy, Bronchoscopy and Colonoscopy examinations as well as Transcervical Endoscopic Inseminations.
